Hoops, Nets, and Rackets: SSG's Sports Day Raises Spirits and Funds

Unleashing Festive Spirit on the Courts

In a dazzling display of athleticism and camaraderie, SIA's Basketball Court was transformed into a battleground for the Christmas Sports Day, held on December 19. Hosted by the SIA Student Government (SSG), the event brought together students, teachers, and alumni for a day of spirited competition and festive celebration, all in support of SSG's fundraising initiatives.

A Devotion to Unity

The festivities commenced with a short but impactful devotion led by Mr. Joe, setting a positive and reflective tone for the day. Participants and spectators alike gathered, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose before the exciting sports events unfolded. The Christmas Sports Day featured three friendly competitions: volleyball, basketball, and badminton.

Badminton Brilliance: Hannah Wang's Triumph

In the badminton category, all eyes were on the final match where Hannah Wang secured her spot as the Champion by defeating James Kang. The match was a thrilling display of skill and determination, earning Hannah well-deserved applause from the audience.

JJJ Alumni Domination on the Basketball Court

For the 3 vs. 3 basketball competition, the visiting alumni, collectively known as the JJJ (John Kim, Josh Araneta, and Joseph Sem), proved that experience and camaraderie triumph over youth. They defeated both students and teachers with a display of strategic teamwork and precision on the court, leaving a memorable mark on the event.

Volleyball Victory: Team Chamchibong Soars

In the 3 vs. 3 volleyball showdown, the team Chamchibong emerged as the undisputed champions. Comprising Ms. Jewel Araneta, a teacher, and two students, James Kang and Daniel Bae, they conquered their adversaries with a combination of skillful plays and effective communication. The victory was met with cheers and applause as they celebrated their well-earned triumph.

Beyond the Courts: Building Community

Beyond the competitions, the Sports Day fostered a sense of community, bringing together the current student body, dedicated teachers, and esteemed alumni in a shared celebration of sportsmanship and holiday cheer, all contributing to SSG's fundraising endeavors.
